Finished Nursery Projects

I just finished two projects for the nursery. First I made a rag rug out of old sheets. This took a long time. I originally wanted to make a circle rug, but after several tries I switched to a rectangular rub. I am very pleased with how it turned out. The second project was to cover a pillow I already had in the house. The pillow is to help give a little extra back support when rocking my little babies to sleep. I added a little decorative trim around the outside to give it some character. I'm getting super excited to meet our two little babies.

Holden Beach - Saturday

On Saturday, we all took our time getting up. However, we were able to get to the beach by 9:30 -10ish. We didn't waste anytime getting into the water and enjoying the wonderful weather. The sun was very warm, however their was a breeze which made it hard to tell if we were getting burnt by the sun. I again sat on the beach, this time I covered up my legs to prevent them from getting any more color. Also my feet were really swollen all weekend, so sitting and drinking water was best for me. After spending time in the water, everyone played ladder golf. The majority seem to like this game a little better than corn hole. After awhile the guys decided to dig up the crab again to show everyone else. Apparently this time the crabs was not very happy about it. After several hours on the beach we took a break for lunch and a little shade back at the house. After lunch the group decided to take a 2 mile walk along the beach to the pier. However, because my feet were swollen I decided to stay back with Nikki, while her son Aulden took a nap. We decided to drive down the road to pick everyone up, and we crammed into Nikki's Journey... Cray squished into the back. It was a tight short ride for, 8 adults, one pregnant and a car seat. We then had dinner at a local restaurant on the shoreline. Again great food, and a fun atmosphere. From there we decided to go play mini golf. Again my feet were sore so I just watch and got some great pictures. By then everyone was spent.

Holden Beach - Friday

Last weekend a few couples from our life group went to Holden Beach for the weekend. Brian and I both took off work on Friday. We got up early and followed another couples on the four hour car trip to the beach. This was the first time Brian and I had been to the North Carolina Beach. We were lucky enough to be staying in a house really close to the beach. When we got there we put on our suits and head straight for the beach. Brian and Cray were being boys and they dug up a crab, see the pictures below and a investigated several jelly fish that were washed up on shore. They also found these little white clams shelled things(yes I know very technical term) but once they were in the water they would start to dig into the sand. I mostly sat on the beach enjoying the weather or walking the beach. I did happen to get sunburn on my legs. All the boys got sunburn on their backs, they apparently had a hard time putting the sunscreen on their backs. We then went out to dinner at a local restaurant. The food was great except for Brian's potato chips, they tasted really old or something. He wouldn't let me tell the waitress, because for some reason he kept eating them. Even though he complained that they were bad, he still ate them. He must have been really hungry from his beach explorations. After dinner we went back to the beach and hung out while we waited for more people from our group to show up.

Weekend Project

This past Saturday Brian decided to do a little landscaping. He added bricks and pine needles to two places around the house. In the south pine needles are the bedding of choice, as opposed to mulch or stones. (It is also way cheaper) Brian spend the whole day out in the hot sun, and received bright red shoulders, even after I warned him he was getting burnt.

First Mother's Day present

Today I received my first mother's day present from a student. This student usually drives me nuts. However, when he really wants to, he can be really caring. He gave all his teachers lotion, antibacterial hand soap, and some kind of air freshener. He usually asks me all kinds of questions about the pregnancy. Also, if I get upset in his class(which happens often) because of students not listening, he will tell the class to quiet down because I have two babies in me.

28 weeks

Today we had our 28 week appointment. we also had an ultrasound today. (I will post pictures later this week) Both babies are breeched or head up, which is why I have been feeling most of the movement of the babies at the bottom of my belly. Apparent the girl is on my left side, I thought for some reason she was on the other side. She is 2 pounds 6 ounces, and her heart beat is 130 beats per min, which is great. Our baby boy is on my right side and he is 2 pounds 9 ounces and his heart beat is in the 130's as well. Apparently his feet are curled up and kick towards our girl. Which would mean his bottom is pushing out to my side, and sometime I can feel a really hard spot where he is pushing outward. The doctor said that they are growing great, and that I need to continue to eat as I am. Also to drink lots of water as it gets hotter and hotter. All week its supposed to be in the 80's. My next appointment is in two more weeks.
